RRBB Accountants and Advisors is pleased to announce the addition of two new Partners based in the Somerset office. Joseph A. Caplan, CPA, MBA, was hired in August of 2021 to serve as Chair of the RRBB Tax Department. Salvatore Lubrano-Lavadera, CPA, has been promoted, effective January 1, 2022, after quickly moving up the ranks over the last decade.

Joe Caplan focuses on providing tax, advisory, attest, and accounting services to owner-managed businesses in various professional service industries. Primarily, these industries include medical and dental practices, law firms, real estate, and small businesses. He counsels clients on business and tax strategies to assist them in dealing with short- and long-term challenges, opportunities, and growth.

Joe will lead the RRBB Tax Department, exemplifying the qualities of a mentor willing to create and implement talent development internally, while also having the capabilities to enhance firm revenue and profitability. He proved his dedication to client success and satisfaction by bringing over a multitude of relationships with him to RRBB. Before joining the firm, Joe was the local professional services leader for a national accounting firm. He focused on providing services to those in the healthcare and law firm space in that role.

Passionate about the profession, Joe has made significant contributions to the firm, community, and industry. Thus, NJBIZ listed him in the 2019 “Vanguard Series: Accounting” issue. Joe is an active member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA). There, he currently serves as Treasurer of the Monmouth/Ocean Chapter and Chair of the Chapter’s Healthcare Committee. He is also a member of the Young Member Leadership Committee for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Through the AICPA, Joe graduated from the Leadership Academy, being one of 41 CPAs chosen from around the country.

Joe, a resident of Howell, received his Master of Business Administration from Saint Peter’s University in 2010, and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting, cum laude, from the College of Staten Island, the City University of New York (CUNY) in 2005.

Becoming RRBB Partners

Salvatore Lavadera concentrates in public company audit and advisory services, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and controller type accounting and consulting services. Often acting as the controller for companies going public, Sal uses his extensive knowledge in financial reporting to work directly with the company’s accounting department and Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, he acts as the liaison between buyers and sellers in M&A transactions, providing due diligence services, including the preparation of quality of earnings analyses.

Having started his career at RRBB, Sal consistently displays the knowledge and skills he has developed over the past ten years. His technical expertise in GAAP compliance and talent in client relations allows him to provide exceptional service. NJBIZ also included Sal in its 2019 “Vanguard Series: Accounting” issue.

Sal stated, “This is so much more than just a job, numbers, and dollar signs. It’s important that I can focus on client relationships while working on complex, challenging work. I’m fortunate to have that opportunity. Here, we provide all the tools necessary to succeed. So, it’s up to you to decide how far you want to go in your career. For that, I am extremely thankful.”

A resident of Flemington, Sal received a dual bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accounting and Business/Management from Rider University in 2012. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
