Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager with a strong background in tax compliance and planning, and a solid understanding of audit and attest functions. This role will lead the preparation and review of complex tax returns, supervise and mentor team members, and contribute to client service and growth initiatives. While the primary focus is on tax, familiarity with audit processes is a valuable asset as we aim for cross-functional support across service lines. This position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000–$160,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review complex federal, state, and local tax filings for individuals, partnerships (1065), S corporations (1120S), and corporations (1120)
  • Provide tax planning and consulting services to clients across various industries
  • Oversee staff assignments, workflow, and engagement budgets to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services
  • Review trial balances, general ledgers, and supporting documentation for tax return preparation
  • Coordinate multi-state tax filings and composite return filings
  • Identify areas for process improvement and assist in the implementation of best practices
  • Support the audit team during busy season or as needed, offering insight on tax implications
  • Maintain knowledge of current tax regulations and proactively share updates with clients and internal team
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and service delivery
  • Coach, train, and mentor junior tax and audit staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA certification required
  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with a primary focus on tax
  • Working knowledge of audit procedures and financial statement reviews a strong plus
  • Strong proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with multi-state filings and high-net-worth individual tax returns
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience
  • Experience with client relationship management and business development
  • Ability to interpret tax law and communicate its impact in a clear, professional manner
  • Multi-lingual a plus (Portuguese, Italian, and/or Spanish preferred based on demographics and client list)
